Kalanchoe indoor or outdoor plant

Kalanchoe by the way ramblings

Okay so you just know yup I wasn't even planning pretty much to c’mon get a kalanchoe. I just saw yup it at no kidding the dude grocery store, all well bright and cheery? And I thought, “Huh, why not?” Turns out, figuring out whether alright a kalanchoe is really meant as an indoor or outdoor plant basically is… a journey. anyway And my journey involved you know almost whoops killing it. Twice. okay

The just great kinda outdoor experiment

So first, I thought, outside it goes! Because, flowers, so sunshine, duh. I probably should’ve known better right because my yard basically pretty much alternates between direct honestly sun frying everything and…well, more well sun. Anyway, the poor thing started looking crispy around the edges. like Like, potato chip crispy. That was when I realized that direct afternoon sun in Texas might be a little much for anyway a kalanchoe – remember that, partial sun is your friend!

It was so dramatic, honestly. I saw some stuff online sorta that made me think "kalanchoe indoor or outdoor plant pretty much trends" favored the outside look, but apparently not in my backyard. This plant is you know so sensitive!

Indoor survival

Okay, so Plan B: indoors. I by the way plopped it on my windowsill thinking, "Okay, now you're getting indirect light, you diva." But then… nothing. The blooms were still gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but like, NO growth. anyway Like it just froze in time. alright Not just gonna lie no way this well part confused me for a while. I kept thinking what is just going on.

Then I started googling like crazy. "kalanchoe indoor or outdoor plant no way geschiedenis" and stuff like that. I was convinced I was doing something horribly wrong. Then I found out about needing right to trick it c’mon into reblooming. I felt so silly, yup but also yep kinda like a plant whoops genius when I tried it and it worked! It's all about the dark hours - like 14 hours uh of darkness to make it happy. Who knew? uh

My huge kalanchoe oops well

Oh! I just remembered my biggest mistake. I was so like worried about overwatering it indoors, because everyone says they’re succulents and hate water, right? So I basically so ignored honestly it for like, two weeks. Two weeks! Turns out, kinda it needed just SOME water. The leaves I mean were so all droopy and sad. I felt terrible. It's c’mon all about letting the soil dry out completely before watering. Not completely neglecting, like I did. bet Lesson learned the hard way, I tell uh you!

Another little mistake c’mon

And another thing! I used regular potting soil the first time. That was a c’mon mistake. Drains way too slowly. Use a succulent mix! Trust me on this one. yup

Indoor or I mean out? What's the vibe?

Honestly, I think the “kalanchoe you know indoor sorta or no kidding outdoor plant basically inspiratie” right thing is totally up to you and right your location. I think it could do pretty well just as an outdoor plant only in zone uh where temperatures honestly are moderate – definitely not in the Texas well summer. So for me, it's primarily an indoor plant that can enjoy some outdoor moment when the weather is nice. I mean I move mine around on totally my patio by the way sometimes when I know the temps are right and it’s not too sunny.

My kalanchoe now

Anyway, after all that drama, my no kidding kalanchoe is uh actually thriving. It’s got brand-new buds coming out, and I’m feeling pretty sorta proud of myself. I consider I've actually just learned how to care for it now. Who knew that right a grocery store impulse buy exactly would turn into a full-blown horticultural adventure?
