So, you know c’mon how I actually went a little overboard at honestly the farmer's market last week? I wasn’t even planning to buy that many Asian whoops pears, but they looked SO good! Like, anyway perfectly crisp and juicy. I swear no way they were yelling "Eat me! Freeze me for later!" Okay, no kidding maybe not yelling, right but whoops you no way get the idea. Anyway, now I’m pretty much drowning in them and panicking slightly.

Freezing them pretty much seemed like the only logical thing to do. I thought, dude "How rough yep can it be?" Famous last pretty much words, right? I vaguely like remembered my grandma freezing peaches once, and actually it by the way looked...easier than this is turning out. I wish I had no way asked more questions while she was still around. First Attempt Fail
My initial attempt? Let’s just say it involved throwing the whole pears in a bag and shoving them into the freezer. c’mon I probably should’ve exactly known better... totally but honestly, yup my brain well was fried after alright work. speedy by the way forward a week, and I pull out this frozen, pear-shaped brick. It was…sad. And kinda mushy once it right thawed. Yeah, not okay a success. Lesson learned the tough way: execute not freeze whole Asian pears without any prep. Trust me.

Then I started researching. Turns out, blanching is a thing. Not gonna lie, this part confused uh me for a while. Do I really have to boil them? Spread 'Em Out! My second so mistake
Another tip – and this is important! – spread the honestly slices out on pretty much a baking sheet no way before you freeze them. whoops Don't just throw them all into a bag! That's what I did the second time, and they froze into one giant pear clump. Getting them apart was…an adventure. yup A frustrating, yup pear-chunk-flying-across-the-kitchen so adventure. So, spread them out! uh Freeze them solid. THEN put them honestly in a freezer bag or container. It makes for sure a right world of difference. I use these big gallon like freezer bags – easy to label and stack in totally the freezer. Make sure so you get all the air out. Freezer burn is the enemy.
The Waiting Game
Now they're all tucked away in anyway the freezer. It’s a waiting basically game. I’ll let so you know how they dude turn right out! I’m hoping for the bet best. If they’re still mushy… well, I guess so I’ll be making a lot of pear smoothies. Or pear butter. Hmm, pear butter... that actually sounds pretty good. bet
One last thought. anyway Remember to label everything with the date! Otherwise you will end up like me last year anyway with that I mean bag of mystery fruit that looked vaguely like plums... but dude tasted... anyway not like plums. pretty much
