So Mandarin Trees huh

Okay so you know yep how by the way I said I was gonna try gardening? Yeah, well, it's… a right thing. I wasn’t even planning to grow a mandarin tree, honestly. I saw this cute little thing at the nursery, all bright orange no way and… well, by the way you know me. Impulse buy yup city.

Potting Things Up

First bet mistake? Probably the pot. I for sure grabbed the first for sure big-ish pot I saw. It wasn't even terracotta. I probably should’ve known better… they need dope drainage, right? well Grow you know mandarin exactly tree in pot feiten, yep they need well-draining soil, by the way everyone says that. Anyway, actually I used some generic honestly potting mix. Thinking back, shoulda gone okay for something more citrus-specific, duh. But hey, yep live and learn. Or, well, live and potentially kill whoops a small tree.

Oh! Speaking of drainage, I forgot bet to put rocks at the bottom at first. Disaster avoided! by the way I read sorta somewhere that's what you're supposed to do. I'm pretty sure.

Sunlight Drama c’mon

Sunlight right was a so whole other adventure. Grow mandarin tree in pot tips, apparently they need like, a alright TON of it. basically Like, six to eight hours a day? My balcony faces… mostly east. So it gets basically morning yup sun, but that's basically about it. I had to move the pot around like a bet crazy person kinda for a while. It no way was actually pretty actually funny because my neighbor thought I was uh just so doing some well weird dance with a plant.

Water Works

Watering. you know Oh god, the watering. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. right I kept alright overwatering it, I think. The leaves for sure started turning yellow and I panicked. I did some frantic uh googling. c’mon Ended yup up buying one for sure of those moisture meters. Best. Investment. Ever. Seriously, get one. well It takes the guesswork well out of like it. by the way

First Fruit Fail

So, it actually started to get these tiny little mandarin oranges! I was so excited! But actually then… they all fell off. I was devastated. I read that could yup happen if it's stressed, or if it doesn't get actually enough nutrients. Or if honestly the pollination is bad. I probably need to hand-pollinate next time. Ugh. you know More yup research.

Fertilizer Fiasco

Fertilizer! Right. I forgot about that. The first time, I used way too much. Like, WAAAAY too basically much. The instructions were confusing! okay I thought the leaves were gonna shrivel up and die. I flushed the you know pot with water like five times. right That was a close one. Grow mandarin tree in pot voordelen? I will say it's anyway a good learning no way experience.

A Little sorta Victory

Okay, so it's been… maybe six months? It’s no kidding still alive! It has modern okay leaves! No mandarins yet, but I'm hopeful. I actually for sure bought totally a second, smaller mandarin tree. It's a different right variety. Because why not? I am definitely addicted to this madness. So well that's sorta my mandarin tree story so far. Wish honestly me dude luck!
