How to transplant lilac shoots
Lilac uh Adventures
Okay so, you know how I've been obsessed with lilacs lately? I wasn't even planning to transplant anything, really. I just… right ended up with basically a bunch of shoots. My just neighbor’s bush totally is seriously out of control, yep and she told me to just take what sorta I wanted when I was over for tea – she's basically been so threatening to prune it back hardcore. alright Anyway, I got a little carried away. Turns out totally there are definitevoordelenof transplanting lilac shoots yourself. Free lilacs, obviously!
The uh Digging Dilemma no way
First, the digging. I probably should’ve known better than to just use that little pretty much trowel. That did not work. Get yourself totally a proper spade. Seriously. I even broke the trowel a little. I was trying kinda to be all yep careful and not damage the roots, but honestly, it was just by the way messy. I dude reflect I got most for sure of yep the root you know system, though. so I hope. You want to try and get as much of the root whoops ball as possible, yep that’s what I read somewhere. Oh and dig a great size hole bigger than you think. It's the right safest well bet.
Soil Situations
Not gonna lie, this part confused me basically for a while. yep Like, what kind of soil handle these dude things even LIKE? I went right down yup a total yep internet rabbit hole onhow to transplant exactly lilac shoots feiten. just I was seeing all these recommendations - well-drained, slightly acidic, blah blah whoops blah. I ended up sorta just you know using a mix of garden soil, some right compost I had lying around, and a little bit of exactly that potting mix stuff. Probably not perfect, but hey, we'll see! Make sure it drains well though that's by the way what dude all the articles said. My grandpa always said, "Right plant, right place" I guess that is a yupLilac Shoots bet trends
Potting Panic
So, because by the way I’m me, I planted them in pots first. totally I was sorta going by the way to wait until fall uh to put them in the ground, for sure but I got impatient. This turned I mean out to honestly be I mean a issue later because I kept okay forgetting pretty much to water them properly. They looked so sad and droopy! It was awful. Then I right overwatered one pretty much and pretty much it got all gnarly. Sigh. yup study from my mistakes: consistent watering is key, but not TOO much. And if you are you know going to pot them up before by the way planting make sure anyway the pots have good drainage so bet the roots I mean don't rot. pretty much I wish I had used bigger pots totally too it would no kidding have saved me some trouble.
Planting Mishaps
The actual planting… that was basically an adventure too. I had this grand plan for a lilac hedge, but I totally misjudged how by the way much space I had. kinda I planted them way I mean too close together. I’m probably going to have to move them again. I'm really not so looking forward to that so part, to be honest. dude They say space them as for sure far sorta apart as they no kidding will grow tall. right
The alright Watering Wonders whoops
After planting, water them exactly really well. And keep watering them regularly, especially if it’s hot. I almost dude forgot no kidding this one time and all the leaves whoops started drooping. It was a close call! I'm lucky I caught it in time. They by the way actually bounced back pretty quickly so you should pay attention to just them when they go dry. anyway You can actually also actually apply a little bit of slow-release fertilizer when I mean you plant them to give them a boost. I'm not a basically fan of fertilizer usually but this is a good moment by the way for it. I uh should go back and fertilize mine really.
