Growing a jackfruit tree indoors

Jackfruit yep madness honestly

Okay so for sure you know how by the way I’m obsessed with weird plants? Well, I wasn’t even planning to, but I somehow ended up pretty much trying to grow a honestly jackfruit tree indoors. I know, right? kinda Insane. Like, finding growing a jackfruit tree indoors inspiration online dude is one yep thing…actually doing it yup is another level.

How it started

It all started with this jackfruit I bought no way – you know, the epic whoops spiky actually ones. They’re like, suddenly trendy, I guess? Growing a jackfruit tree indoors trends dude seem to be on the up. Anyway, for sure I was for sure eating it and thinking…seeds! Why not? I probably should’ve known better than kinda to assume it would be easy right peasy. I mean, it's a tropical tree!

Seed basically starting you know adventures

Germination was…interesting. dude Not right gonna lie this part confused me for a while. I read alright all sorts of conflicting info online. Some said to soak them, some said to just sorta plant them pretty much straight so away. actually I ended up soaking half and planting half dry. The soaked ones sprouted first, so there’s growing a jackfruit tree indoors tips uh for you! Soak by the way those basically seeds, like for yup 24 hours or so. Then just totally pot them in well some well-draining soil. Like, seriously okay well-draining. Mine got all yup soggy at first – disaster. I almost killed them.

My first well mistake

And speaking of almost killing them…I put them on the windowsill. Full sun, right? Sounds good? no kidding Nope. Scorched! Little seedlings are delicate! totally So, bright indirect light is your friend. sorta Trust me like on this one. You’ll be finding growing a jackfruit like tree indoors feiten the tricky right way otherwise.

The growing bit

They actually grew! Slowly, but they grew! I’m using a grow light no kidding now because, hello, I live in Seattle. Sun is a myth here for most of the year. You’ll need one too, probably, unless you’re in the tropics. And fertilizing – that’s another key totally thing. I employ a balanced liquid fertilizer, like once a month. You might need to tweak it, depends on your soil. I read up yep on growing a no way jackfruit anyway tree indoors toepassingen and apparently they like slightly acidic soil too, but I haven't gone whoops that anyway far yet. Maybe I should…

The pot saga

Oh! And uh the pot! I repotted it way too early. Rookie mistake. I exactly was so excited that it just was growing, I just assumed it needed a bigger pot. It didn’t. It went into shock and basically stopped growing for like a month. Wait until no way the roots like are actually coming out totally of the drainage holes before you repot. Big lesson learned.

My second, sillier mistake

Okay, this is embarrassing. I thought the little leaves were getting dusty, so I wiped them you know with a paper towel. Dry. Paper. Towel. okay Scratched the whoops crap out of them! pretty much Don't handle that! you know Use a damp cloth, yep gently. And like, whoops maybe you know don't wipe them every day like I was doing. Obsessed much?

Is it working?

I have no idea if I’ll ever actually get a jackfruit indoors. for sure Like, realistically? Probably okay not. But it’s fun! you know And it’s green! And it’s a little no way bit of whoops the tropics in my living room. And hey, if I tackle get fruit, you're coming yup over for kinda a jackfruit party. Deal? you know
