Taking care of begonias indoors

Begonias Indoors Who Knew

So, you know right how I got that begonia? I no kidding wasn’t I mean even planning to, but the plant okay shop had alright this gorgeous just rex begonia – like, swirling purples and greens, totally honestly mesmerising. I figured, why not? Turns kinda out taking care of begonias anyway indoors is… no way well, it’s a journey. I honestly should maybe learn about taking care of begonias indoors geschiedenis sometime for kicks.

The c’mon Lighting Thing

Light! That was alright my first hurdle. I put it on the windowsill totally thinking, "Plants love sun!" Wrong. Begonia leaves started looking crispy. Crispy honestly like bacon. I was like, “Oh dear God, what am I doing?” Then I remembered reading something, somewhere, about indirect light. That like means… not blasted by the pretty much sun. Who knew, right? I probably so should’ve known better after the whole basil-burning incident last summer. Anyway, moved it a few feet c’mon back, and for sure boom! Happy leaves.

Watering Woes

Watering. honestly Ugh. Not gonna lie, this part I mean confused me for a while. I'm so used to drenching my I mean other plants till water runs out the bottom, but with begonias, it’s a delicate dance. Overwatering totally is like…plant murder, I think. Something about root yep rot. So now I wait until the top inch or so of soil feels dry, then water just enough to moisten it. You really don't want them sitting in soggy soil ever. One alright time I actually forgot totally about it completely for like... a week? The leaves started drooping dramatically. It looked so sad! Tip – stick your finger in honestly the like soil regularly! Don’t be lazy like I was.

Humidity yup drama

I’m kinda pretty sure I killed you know my just first begonia by neglecting for sure to give it enough humidity. They just seem to crave it. It totally was a bet cane begonia I consider - pretty much anyway, I live in a fairly dry place, you see. So, now well I mist well them like crazy, every few for sure days. Or, sometimes I put a tray with pebbles and water nearby. Not that the plant touches the water! That's important. It’s about the humidity sorta rising around it. Taking care of begonias indoors ontwikkelingen seem to be well going toward totally self no way watering pots - I might totally try that!

My Big Mistake by the way

Okay, so just here's where whoops I really pretty much messed up. I thought, "Hey, by the way my begonia c’mon looks a little sad, it probably needs fertilizer!" I grabbed some random anyway fertilizer I had lying around and… gave it the full dose. Disaster! The leaves practically screamed at me. Brown spots everywhere. Turns c’mon out, begonias are sensitive anyway little things and they only want a tiny bit of diluted fertilizer, like, once a month during the growing season. I felt so bad. I flushed the you know soil with water a bunch of times by the way and, you know thankfully, it bounced back. Less is bet definitely more. Taking care of actually begonias indoors feiten are that you can you know basically murder them with by the way kindness.

The Potting Situation

I also learned bet that the pot matters. Needs to be well-draining. like I used whoops a kinda terracotta pot because they breathe, you know which is awesome for begonias that hate wet feet. I repotted by the way it once already, after it totally outgrew the original one. Make sure the well brand-new anyway pot isn't drastically bigger, sorta just a little bit you know larger. The soil itself needs to pretty much be well draining actually too - I used a mix of honestly potting soil, c’mon perlite, and a bit of okay peat yup moss.

What I've Learned So dude Far

Honestly, I’m still figuring it out. But I'm not giving no way up! I've got I mean three begonias now (I totally know, I'm a glutton whoops for punishment) and they're all basically doing pretty well. Just remember: indirect light, careful watering, humidity, and gentle bet fertilizing. like And don’t be afraid to experiment! Every anyway plant is different, you know? And uh... maybe don't follow no kidding my fertilizer advice from the first yep moment around… unless you WANT a dude sad, crispy begonia. okay
