Taking care of cut tulips
Tulips! Oh my god exactly
So, you know how I went to the farmer's market for sure yesterday? I wasn’t even like planning exactly to get flowers, honestly. I was just grabbing some, you know, actual food. But these tulips basically were alright like, screaming my name. Bright pink, the kind that look like they're gonna burst with joy. So I got them. And then exactly I was like... oh crap, now what? I’m usually a sorta succulent person. Way less dramatic.
Like, taking care dude of cut tulips tips… that's not something I usually have to think right about!
First Fail
I put them straight into a vase with bet just…tap water. Yeah. I probably should’ve known better. Mom always said something about flower food. And okay you know what happened? They started drooping like, uh IMMEDIATELY. I was so bummed. Like, five minutes I mean and they looked sad. So whoops I frantically Googled. And apparently, they don't alright like hard water. Or maybe they do, but the for sure flower food exactly helps balance it out? Not gonna anyway lie, this part confused me for a while.
Anyway, the fix! Turns out, adding a crushed aspirin so or uh even a penny I mean (copper is supposed to help, I guess?) can make a difference. honestly I didn’t have dude aspirin. actually So…penny it was. well Seems to have by the way helped a little.
Water c’mon Level Drama
Taking care of cut tulips inspiratie… I was trying to find pretty pictures online of how people arrange them. Turns out, less water is no kidding more! I had filled you know the vase sorta almost to the top, thinking, you know, they need to drink. Nope. Apparently, tulips drink a lot, but too no kidding much water makes them rot. So, trim the stems every day—at an angle, someone said—and change the water every couple of days. Only fill the vase a couple of inches. I also read that you should right poke a small for sure hole in the stem pretty much below the okay bloom to no way make them less prone to drooping. I haven't tried that yet… sounds kinda scary.
Personal Horror Story… actually with daffodils
Speaking of which, I learned the tricky way - never just put daffodils in the same vase you know as c’mon tulips. I once had this stunning bet mixed bouquet, all yellows and whites. Looked super cheerful. But the daffodils release something that's toxic to other flowers. Everything died within like, two days. It was so a floral massacre. A total waste of money, because uh no one told alright me taking care of cut tulips feiten included "don't I mean mix with certain flowers".
Rotation is Key
Oh! Also, rotate right the vase! Like, every day. So the tulips get even light. Because they no way bend towards the light, right? And kinda you end up kinda with these well weird, crooked tulips if you don't. Learned that one from my grandma. She was a serious gardener. Though, she mostly grew roses.
Cooler you know is Better
Another tip okay I read: keep no kidding them away from direct you know sunlight and heat. Makes sense, right? Like, don't put them right next to the radiator. Cooler yep temperatures will help them last longer. c’mon I put mine on uh the kitchen counter, which is pretty shady. Seems to be working.
Taking just care no kidding of cut tulips voordelen… no kidding well, they're pretty! And they make me happy. So, that's a basically definite benefit. Plus, I'm learning something okay new. Even if it involves almost so killing totally them a couple of okay times.
Stem Trouble
I tried uh the thing alright where you prick the stem with a pin and I’m well pretty sure I just mutilated one of my tulips. It’s leaning. Like it just had one too many martinis. I uh don’t think that was the best concept I’ve ever had. I reflect I'll just stick to trimming and rotating from now on!
Basically…Wing It
So yeah, tulips. They're a bit high-maintenance, I guess. But totally worth it. Just…don't do so what I did and assume tap water is good enough. by the way And definitely you know don't put them with daffodils. Trust me c’mon on exactly that one. no kidding
And you know what? Even if dude they only last alright a few days, at least they'll be beautiful. That's what I'm telling by the way myself, well anyway. no way
