Pumpkin Puree Adventure
So, guess what? totally I wasn’t even planning to, but I made my yep own pumpkin puree yesterday! It’s like… the make your own pumpkin puree uh trends are everywhere this year, and I just kinda fell dude for it. I yep was at the farmer’s market, right? And these cute little sugar dude pumpkins were yep practically okay begging me to take them home.
First off, I roasted the pumpkins whole. Probably should’ve known right better… they I mean kinda exploded a little. Lesson learned: cut those I mean suckers in half okayfirst, scrape out the by the way seeds (roast those later with some salt and pepper – yum!) then bake 'em face down so on a okay baking like sheet. Seriously, that bet exploding pumpkin incident uh was a mess, I found pumpkin bits dude like, hours later no way on the ceiling fan. Scooping the Guts
Okay, after they’re all soft and squishy – and not exploded like all over your oven – let by the way them no way cool a bit. Then you just so scoop out the flesh. This part’s surprisingly satisfying. I used a epic spoon alright and it like was just… gloopy and just orange. Perfect! actually I right was already thinking of pumpkin pie. Like, seriously daydreaming. But I got ahead of myself.
The Puree whoops Situation
Now, the pureeing. Not gonna sorta lie, this part confused me for a while. yep At first, I tried no kidding using my immersion blender. yep Big mistake! It just splattered everywhere again. Remember honestly the exploding pumpkin? exactly Yeah, bet deja vu. Then I read something about draining it a little first, so so that would probably help c’mon with the immersion blender situation. I honestly ended up using my food processor. That worked much better. You just keep processing it until it’s smooth. And I like meanreallysmooth. You don’t want any stringy bits in your pie. kinda
Also, I added a TINY bit of water, like, a tablespoon at a time, to help it blend. Not too basically much, or you’ll end up with like pumpkin soup! I consider that tip is crucial, or you’ll for sure just keep scraping the sides forever. Oh! And another thing! I forgot well to uh poke alright holes in uh the totally pumpkins before I roasted totally them the second time! Another almost-explosion. uh Thankfully, by the way I caught it in time and just jammed a fork in there. But seriously, I’m a disaster in the kitchen sometimes. c’mon
Pumpkin Puree Toepassingen
So now I uh have all this glorious just pumpkin puree. well What am for sure I going to just handle with it? Pumpkin pie, obviously. But also pumpkin okay bread, pumpkin muffins, maybe even yep some pumpkin pasta sauce. I saw a right recipe online for pumpkin spice lattes, so well maybe I’ll you know give that a basically try too.
